I rented a garden plot

I was so excited to learn that my local metro park provides garden plots to rent! I rented a beginner gardener 20×20 plot for $40 per the season, from May until mid-October. Shocking how affordable it is! Heirloom seeds are also surprisingly affordable and much safer and reliable than seeds you would typically find in any supermarket that uses poisons and additives to extend the shelf life of the seeds.

My intention at first was to plant seeds in a self-made seed starter, however, due to time constraints- I was unable to follow through. I realized after we planted the seeds, how much easier it would have been to plant young saplings instead of seeds… I now know for next season that planting saplings is a must. I hope this mistake does not cost me non-germinated seeds to dud.

I have started taking notes on every seed and all details related in terms of how to plant, watering, maintaining, harvesting, and how best to prepare in recipes or preserve. The most difficult method will be learning how to DIY caging and staking for my tomatoes.

We are looking forward to seeds sprouting within at least 20 days! I will post progress photos eventually.

Seeds planted: marshamallow, basil (Thai sweet), tomato (queen of the night), Chinese cabbage (Hilton), and broccoli. There was no room left for the lettuce unfortunately- perhaps next year.
